Today the term refers to a communication technique that denies or distorts reality in order to confuse public opinion and make the innocent appear guilty. The same red thread runs through recent political episodes: from the airplane of the President of the European Commission to drones in Scandinavia, from aircraft intercepted near Alaska to drones shot down in Poland. GASLIGHTING GEOPOLITICO: ALLA DISPERATA RICERCA DI UN CASUS BELLI DALL'AEREO DI VON DER LEYEN AI DRONI IN SCANDINAVIA “Iniziò con l’immaginare cose, sentì rumori, passi, voci, e poi le voci iniziarono a parlarle”, così il marito manipolatore di Gaslight, il celebre film del 1944, descriveva la sua strategia di inganno. Oggi il termine indica una tecnica comunicativa che nega o distorce la realtà per confondere l’opinione pubblica e far apparire colpevole chi non lo è. Lo stesso filo rosso attraversa i recenti episodi politici: dall’aereo della Presidente della Commissione Europea ai droni in Scandinavia, dai velivoli intercettati vicino all'Alaska ai droni abbattuti in Polonia. Una strategia bellica subdola in cui l’Occidente alterna allarmi e rassicurazioni, accese minacce e caute smentite, in un gioco comunicativo che non mira tanto a descrivere i fatti in modo logico ed obiettivo quanto a forgiare e indirizzare la percezione della massa. IGNORANCE AND VIOLENCE. THE MURDER OF CHARLIE KIRK IN THE HYPER-POLARIZED AND IRRATIONAL WEST  That Kirk was no saint is known to everyone, even to those who – disingenuously – cry scandal over the few irresponsible and foolish (certainly not leading politicians) who rejoice at the death of a young man. After all, a figure who spent his time degrading politics with barroom slogans of the lowest order, such as: “Michelle Obama, a woman of color, has an inferior brain to that of any white woman”, in a healthy and meritocratic society would never have enjoyed the space and consideration that Kirk did. For one may very well dislike the Obamas – and it is entirely legitimate to do so – but to claim that a woman like the former First Lady, who graduated with honors in Sociology from Princeton and in Law from Harvard, is less intelligent than any white woman merely because she is melanoderm is typical of a person with serious cognitive deficits, or, at best, of someone willing to lie blat...

IGNORANZA E VIOLENZA. L'OMICIDIO DI CHARLIE KIRK NELL'OCCIDENTE IPERPOLARIZZATO E IRRAZIONALE  Che Kirk non fosse uno stinco di santo lo sanno tutti, perfino chi – pretestuosamente – grida allo scandalo per quei pochi irresponsabili e stolti (non certo politici di primo piano), che gioiscono della morte di un giovane uomo. D’altra parte, un tipo che passa il proprio tempo dedicandosi a far degenerare la politica con slogan da bar di infimo ordine, del tipo: “Michelle Obama, donna di colore, ha un cervello inferiore a quello di una qualsiasi donna bianca”, in una società sana e meritocratica non avrebbe mai avuto tutto lo spazio e la considerazione che ha avuto Kirk. Perché gli Obama possono anche non piacere, ed è del tutto legittimo che sia così, ma affermare che una donna come l’ex First Lady, laureata con lode in Sociologia a Princeton e in Legge ad Harvard, sia più stupida di qualsiasi donna bianca soltanto perché melanoderma è tipico di una persona con seri deficit cogniti...
